About

Engineer, developer,
practical builder.

I’m Maxim Dascalasu, a software developer and cloud engineer based in Scotland.

I work across cloud infrastructure, web development, automation and AI — with a focus on building systems that are useful, understandable and maintainable.

My background is in building and supporting real-world digital platforms. More recently, I’ve been going deeper into AWS and cloud architecture, exploring how applications, infrastructure, security and automation fit together.

How I work

Build first.
Understand deeply.
Improve continuously.

I learn best by building.

That usually means starting with a real problem, creating a working version, finding where it fails, understanding why, and improving the system from there.

I document the architecture, decisions, mistakes and lessons because the process is often as valuable as the finished result.

What I work on

From applications
to infrastructure.

My experience started primarily on the application side — building WordPress platforms, custom functionality, integrations, data workflows and production web systems.

That naturally led me further into the infrastructure behind those applications: cloud architecture, networking, security, monitoring, automation and reliability.

Today I’m particularly interested in the intersection of software, AWS and AI.

Current direction

Going deeper
into cloud engineering.

I’m currently building practical AWS projects and case studies around architecture, infrastructure, security, automation, observability and cost.

The goal isn’t simply to collect services or certifications. I want to understand how reliable cloud systems are designed, why particular decisions are made, and what happens when things go wrong.

Beyond the work

Curious by default.

Technology is only one part of what keeps me curious. I enjoy design, building things, experimenting with new ideas and understanding how things work — whether that’s software, systems or something completely different.

That curiosity tends to find its way back into my work.
